In the 19th century, the concept of personal training gained prominence through figures such as Milo of Croton. Milo was a famous Greek athlete who used individual training methods to develop his physical strength.

The modern form

The modern form of personal training developed in the 20th century when gyms emerged and there was an increased interest in customized fitness programs. In the 1980s and 1990s, personal training gained wider recognition as celebrities began to hire fitness coaches to help them with their physical fitness.
